Was it ever meant to be easy?

Blatantly, NO. There is no way that we can be convinced that this life was meant to be a smooth ride and there is no essence in arguing out an opposing view to this discussion. Although I always welcome critiques to my ideas and still do, I would not expect much opposition against this issue.

Despite the disparity existing everywhere, we can all agree on this fact; nothing comes easy, especially good things. The adage that ‘with great power comes great responsibility’ is a quintessential representation of man’s responsibility on earth. Blessed with power over other creations and power to create, our responsibilities exceed mere survival. A bird’s life seems simple, we cannot confidently say that it is simple as it lacks proper representation in this discussion. Compared to our lives, a bird’s life has been deemed insignificant by many people. We cannot live a bird’s life, instead we should try to ensure that our lives do not affect theirs negatively. We are responsible for all other creatures and this makes the task of existence a bit harder, but we should not forget that we have been provided with adequate tools to handle this responsibility effectively.

Growing up, we were blind to the imperfections of adults’ lives. We saw them as people with solutions to everything and wished to be them soonest possible. On the other hand, some adults were wishing that they were still kids again, the period they enjoyed most in their life. The limited responsibilities they had has been taken away by age. Reminiscing nostalgically how life was smooth back then when the issues they had were just constant bickering with their siblings and how easily they would trade all the tax, rent and grown up issues for the childhood challenges. Although adulthood might have had different challenges, the grown ups did the maximum to ensure that we did not notice them, making us believe that they were superheroes and immune to daily life challenges. That was important because they gave us something to look forward to. Had they shown us what was really going through their minds and how many times they had thought about giving up, then depression would have kicked in very early in kids’ lives.

One would like to capture the exact moment when the transformation from individuals with limited responsibilities to custodians of the earth occurs. This is sadly the most interesting and unfathomable moment of our lives. We fail to capture the specific moment between childhood and adulthood because we transform at different ages. Kids have become adults at 15 as a result of life circumstances while others have graduated to adulthood at 30. The lack of control over our own growth adds some taste to the somewhat plain life that would have existed had we been given control over everything. Provided with the power to control our mortality and all our desires, our lives would be an unsophisticated one which is not that intriguing to be honest.

Life has provided us with various solutions to defuse its rather turgid nature. However, it has not provided us with a silver bullet to rid us of its complexity once and for all. Till we find a complete hack to this issue, we have to just get on with it whilst doing our best. We cannot and should not excuse ourselves with the intricacy of this life. Paramountly, we should accept that things are not meant to be easy and instead find a solution to our individual issues. We should always aim to be the best versions of ourselves. Life will not tear you apart if you always do your best.

Life isn’t meant to be easy. It’s hard to take being on the top – or on the bottom. I guess I’m something of a fatalist. You have to have a sense of history, I think, to survive some of these things … Life is one crisis after another.” – Author: Richard M. Nixon

  1. Though I partially agree with your view ,i guess sometimes not all the hard stuff will guarantee a positive ,and strongly hold the view that life is simple if you have the difficulty lens
